Abercarn RFCABERCARN R.F.C.

16 Apr 11 - Crumlin

WON 44 - 13

Abercarn cruised to a bonus point win against Crumlin.

The home side stole the ball at the first line-out and strong running by centre Nicky Lloyd saw him crash over the line. Full back Jason Evans was successful with the conversion and again added two further points when hooker Aaron Davies scored the second try of the match.

Both sides were willing to run the ball but the visitors found it hard to cope with the pace of the game. Winger Guy Glastonbury danced and ducked around several Crumlin players before passing to centre Gareth Marsh to cross the line.

Abercarn were then caught napping when Crumlin took a quick tap penalty to sore a try and minutes later added to their score when they were awarded a penalty. The home side extended their lead with a penalty kick and at half-time led by 24 points to 8.

The best try of the match came from inside half Chris Symonds when he darted from the back of a scrum on the half way line to score in the corner. Having his best match of the season so far,Gareth Marsh ran from his own 20 metre line to score his second try of the game.

Crumlin had not given up and deservedly scored a second try. The game was wrapped up however when Owen Glastonbury set off on a mazy run to score Abercarn’s sixth try of the game and the final score was 44 points to 13.

This week Abercarn welcome Oakdale for their penultimate game of the season which will be played at Newbridge as the Welfare Ground is unavailable.
